| LTTE air wing is still intact |
The LTTE has conducted its fifth air bombing of a Sri Lanka military
installation, whereas,the Sri Lanka Air Force has been unable to,
intercept the Tiger aircraft. On April 25th, two LTTE light aircraft of the type Zlin Z-143L, took
off from Mullaitivu, around 1.25 a.m., in total darkness and flew at a
low level.

| Tigers' deep sea mines pose new threat to Sri Lanka |
The Tamil Tigers' deep sea underwater capability demonstrated off the
eastern Sri Lankan coast Saturday might have added a new dimension to
the military conflict, The Sunday Times said.The navy could be facing a new challenge in the coming months if the
Tamil guerrillas continue to attack Sri Lankan vessels with sea mines
or human torpedoes, the weekly paper said.

| Sri Lanka says fighting kills 10, bombs rebel base |
Sri Lankan warplanes pounded Tamil Tiger targets in the far north of
the island on Saturday, and nine rebels and a soldier were killed in a
series of battles in the same region, the military said.

Sri Lankan fighter jets bombed two Tamil Tiger camps in the island's far north on Thursday, the military said, the second batch of air strikes in three days, but there were no immediate details of any casualties.

| Sri Lanka air raid kills girl |
Sri Lankan warplanes bombed rebel-held territory in the north of the
island for a third consecutive day on Thursday, and the Tamil Tigers
said a teenage girl had been killed in the air raids. Fighting between the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam and the military
has intensified since the government formally pulled out of a
six-year-old ceasefire pact in January, though a renewed civil war has
been raging since 2006.

| Critical northern crossing point under pressure |
The Omanthai crossing point 190km north of the Sri Lankan capital,
Colombo, is the only gateway currently open between areas controlled by
the Sri Lankan government and those controlled by the Liberation Tigers
of Tamil Eelam (LTTE), and traffic through this key transit point falls
off sharply each time the security situation deteriorates.

| Vanni faces creeping embargo, SLA blamed |
New regulations and checking procedures introduced by Sri Lanka Army
(SLA) officials on vehicles transporting essentials to Vanni through
the Oamanthai checkpoint, under SLA's expressed objective of increased
security, have severely restricted the flow of goods into the
Liberation Tigers controlled region, civil society sources in Vanni
said.
